Welcome To The Circus

Pictures equal a thousand words, I do both.

Seriously guys, stop waiting for the world to come to you. You want something? Go get it. In love with someone? Tell ‘em. Something on your mind? Voice it. Let the world hear you. Don’t ever let it forget you. Otherwise you’ll end up bitter and disappointed and honestly that would just make me too damn sad.

Telling people like it is.

UK-artist Nick Gentry happens to use floppy disks as his canvas. Gentry, being part of the first generation of kids that grew up with computers, recycles outmoded technology like the floppy disk, into works of art. Loving “the variety of colours and the handwriting that gives clues to what might be stored on them”, he doesn’t conceal his material. Instead he consciously integrates it into his work.

Clear skies and lush, green leaves. It’s the picture of serenity and comfort, like the feelings you get when autumn leaves fall on your back or when you sleep on the cold sides of a pillow.
The shower showed me things today.
Visions, dreams, wishes and regrets, ghosts of a past I do not want to look into but cannot help but remember. It is a mistake, an unforgettable one that haunts me with its teachings.
The cold water hit my face like a hard slap.
Suddenly, things were clearer. I did not suffer by myself, everyone else did too. Friends, strangers, politicians, the poor man by the street and everyone around me had their own crosses to bear. And yet, they did it with a smile.
It is said that the saddest of people smile the hardest.
I am proud to say that I still smile.

Feeling embraced.

Character is a project based in Finland that converts dismantled signs into individual art objects which can be purchased online here. These photos by Johan Warden make the project all the more striking it really shows how text and type can really look stunning in illuminating light.

  • Rihanna: We found love in a hopeless place.
  • Cap: We found Steve in a frozen place.
  • Tony: We found Stark in an iron case.
  • Bruce: We found Hulk in some gamma rays.
  • Thor: We found Thor punching Loki's face.

A milkshake is nothing and far from complete if without the silliness of the decadent whipped cream.

Life Is Beautiful by The Icarus Account

So yeah, it turns out that my date was set on next Thursday, not this week’s Thursday and I didn’t find out until I called her up to say Good Morning and we laughed and kinda talked about how silly it was. It’s cool though and we’re going to watch MIB3 instead of Dark Shadows because I can’t take a third time going through it even though it has Johnny Depp and she doesn’t want to watch it because she’s heard stuff about it.

So yeah.

Feeling stressed, like a pancake being pressed by the grill.

atavus:

You’re just like school in July.

No class.

onelifeoneparty:

have already fallen in love with far too many postage stamps
When you appeared on my doorstep wearing nothing but a postcard promise
No, appear, is the wrong word..

is there a word for sucker punching someone in the heart?

Is there a word for when you’re sitting at a bottom of a rollercoaster
And you realise that the climb is coming
and you know what the climb means
and you can already feel the flip in your stomach from the fall before you even moved

Is there a word for that?
There should be

You can only fit so many words in a postcard
Only so many in a phone call
Only so many into space
Before you forget that words are sometimes used for things other than filling emptiness

It’s hard to build a body out of words
I have tried
We  have both.. tried

Instead of ..holding your head to my chest
I tell you about the boy who lives downstairs from me
Who stays up all night long practicing his drumset
And neighbours have complained.. they have busy days tomorrow
But he keeps on thumping through the night
convinced, I think, that practise makes perfect

Instead of holding my hand
You tell me about the sandwich you ate for lunch today
How the pickles sit so perfectly with the lettuce
Practice does not make perfect
Practice makes permanent

Repeat the same mistakes over and over
You don’t get any closer to Carnegie Hall.. even I know that
Repeat the same mistakes over and over
You don’t get any closer
You never get any closer

Is there a word for the moment you win tug of war
When the weight gives
And all that extra rope comes hurtling towards you
How even though you’ve won
You still wind up with muddy knees and burns on your hands

Is there a word for that
I wish there was

I want to say it
when we’re finally together on your couch
And neither one of us with anything left to say

Still now, I send letters into space
Hoping that some mail man somewhere will track you down
And recognise you from the description in my poems
And he will place a stack of them in your hands and tells you,
“There is a girl who still writes you”
She doesn’t know.. how not to.
